We had a great turnout at our rescheduled meeting last night. Our mayor and District 1 council member showed in support.
Glendia Warren brought some goodies, Carol Willemse brought hot chocolate, and the society provided coffee.
We discussed a number of things, including replacement of our banner at the post office that had seen better days. Our finances were shown to be in good shape. The bylaws were updated to eliminate the "council" and change then to "Members of the Board." This doesn't change the process a whole lot but streamlines decision making somewhat.
With inflation costs, dues were voted on to increase by $10, starting calendar year 2026.
Much more was discussed. The virtual part of the meeting was a success as well with good audio.

As many know, we sustained some shingle damage on our train depot with the record winds. Insurance covered little to replace the shingles after deductibles and depreciation.
Whitlock roofing is working with us to make the roof whole again as matching the old shingles is difficult.
We are fortunate to not only have a few volunteers who donate their valuable time on a weekly basis at our history center (and from home during their personal schedules). Recently we have gained the support of a couple more awesome people to help out.
We closely monitor our budget. What may seem a fair amount in the bank is actually funds we carefully manage to include unforeseen expenses (like the roof at the depot).
Our dues paying membership has declined some with the passing of some and overlooked payment by others, although we are receiving some donations to help out from individuals as well as businesses.

It has been a while since our last blog. Even so, we have been very busy. We have digitized many of our file and are still working on the remainder. Some of our displays have been rearranged for better view. Some maintenance issues have been resolved, like replacement of thermostats. We are showing some colorized historic pictures and more.
Our quilt for raffle is on display at the museum and we will soon be offering for purchase some exciting items.
